From fat reduction to skin tightening and tone, Dr. Neil Sadick offers keys for best outcomes when combining energy-based devices.

Manhattan dermatologist and clinical professor of dermatology, Weill Cornell Medical College, Neil Sadick, M.D., combines energy devices to achieve whole body rejuvenation. He presented “Combination Therapy with Energy-based Devices for Whole Body Rejuvenation” Saturday, March 2, during the Cosmetics panel at the 2019 American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

“Our patients these days are increasingly aware of all the aesthetic treatment options available to them to address several of their concerns: photoaging, localized fat, laxity and cellulite. As dermatologists, we are now called upon to combine different modalities and design complex aesthetic treatment programs taking into consideration a patient’s specific concerns, their time, budget and long-term goals,” Dr. Sadick says.

He offers these three tips for best outcomes:

  • Perform fat reduction procedures prior to any skin tightening procedures as the former will increase laxity.

  • Treat photo-pigmentation with chromophore-specific lasers prior to general skin rejuvenation with intense pulsed light (IPL), etc., to secure even tone of the skin.

  • Same day filler/neurotoxin with subsequent laser/ultrasound/radiofrequency can be performed in this order, but don’t combine different energy devices in the same area on the same day.
