Expert to separate facial filler fact from fiction at VCS 2014

You may think you know enough about facial fillers, but Jill Hessler, M.D., has some things to share with you during her upcoming presentation at the 2014 Vegas Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology meeting in June.

You may think you know enough about facial fillers, but Jill Hessler, M.D., has some things to share with you during her upcoming presentation at the 2014 Vegas Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology meeting in June.

Dr. Hessler, Medical Director and Surgical Center Director of Palo Alto Plastic Surgery, will be presenting, "Things you didn't know you could do with a needle: Latest update on facial fillers."

“There’s been an increase in awareness of minimally invasive techniques,” Dr. Hessler says. “A lot of people are trying to postpone surgery if they can. People are trying to pushback the need or timing for surgery.”

Dr. Hessler says she wants attendees to focus not only on the products they’re injecting, but the techniques and location of the injections.

“Really understanding the facial anatomy and facial aging can help you use fillers effectively,” Dr. Hessler says. “There’s not one filler that is the magic potion for all treatments. You really need to customize the treatments for all patients and have available to you many options.”

In the future, Dr. Hessler thinks there will be more types of fillers coming to market such as longer-lasting products and safer products. The use of cannulas and safer techniques will also evolve to avoid complications, she said.

“I think it really looks like it’s going to be quite an amazing conference with my talk and with many others,” Dr. Hessler says of VCS. “It’s really one of the best conferences we’ve seen in a long time.”

Dr. Hessler will also be giving the following presentations at the 2014 VCS meeting:

·      Blepharoplasty: Re-Creating the Beautiful Eye

·      Optimizing Pre- and Post-op Care of Laser Patients
