The effects of the serum, Refine, can be seen in 6 to 12 months.
ExoCel Bio recently announced the launch of its Evovex hair regrowth serum, Refine, with a 75 billion concentration of exosomes. The high concentration of non-lyophilized, purified exosomes creates fuller, stronger hair.1
Refine is fully-lab tested and contains exosomes from regenerative Placental Mesenchymal Stem Cells. The exosomes target and repair damaged cells and stimulate hair follicles, which can promote growth and prevent additional hair loss. Exosomes also have an anti-inflammatory effect, which could help to calm scalp inflammation that contributes to hair loss.
"I am a big fan of exosomes,” Glynis Ablon, MD, FAAD, board-certified dermatologist, associate clinical professor at UCLA, and owner, founder, and director of Ablon Skin Institute and Research Center in Manhattan Beach, California, told Dermatology Times®. “They are fantastic for wound healing, hair growth and skin rejuvenation. ExoCel Bio makes an excellent product that contains messenger RNA, micro RNA and growth factors that work to stimulate new hair growth and delay hair shedding or loss. I think it is the next frontier in hair loss armamentarium!"
Evovex exosomes contain a blend of “precision growth factors, peptides, cytokines, and mRNA that target damaged skin and hair follicle cells, which via topical application facilitates cellular repair and revitalization.”1 The results from treatment with Refine can be seen in 6-12 months over the course of 2 to 4 visits. Currently more than 500 providers are using Evovex products.
“Exosomes offer a potentially exciting new category for hair maintenance and hair regrowth,” said Matt Leavitt, DO, FAOCD, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery.“ The FDA [US Food and Drug Administration] has not approved any exosome products for hair regrowth/maintenance. IND [Investigational New Drug]/FDA studies will be important for greater adoption of this technology.”
ExoCel products are tested using various techniques, including NGS, MUDPit, and a 9-step patent-pending screening process, to develop safe products.
August is Hair Loss Awareness Month. Leavitt joined Dermatology Times to discuss the importance of bringing awareness to the issue.
