In this week’s Pointers With Portela, the 208SkinDoc discusses dangerous skin care marketing to watch out for.
In his most recent YouTube episode, "The Truth Behind Dangerous Skincare Company Ad - Clearstem Skincare," Dustin Portela, DO, a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon at Treasure Valley Dermatology in Boise, Idaho, revisits the discussion of Clearstem Skincare's claims that their acne vitamin rivals Accutane (isotretinoin).
In this episode, Portela addresses the way in which Clearstem Skincare responded to questions about its product on its TikTok account. Portela raises concerns about no clinical trial data, 3rd party testing, and no adverse effect data.
"The Mind Body Skin may be a decent supplement, but I believe the company needs to be much more cautious about the claims they make on social media," said Portela.
