The conference aimed at providing dermatology NPs and PAs with the latest in the specialty begins today in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Attendees are gearing up for the 2024 Elevate-Derm West Conference, which begins today in Scottsdale, Arizona, and ends Sunday, November 10. Every year, dermatology nurse practitioners and physician assistants from across the country and world gather for networking, collaboration, and engaging sessions representing a variety of dermatological conditions, research, and innovation.
The agenda opens with a session from Whitney High, MD, on diagnostic challenges in dermatopathology, providing practical insights for experienced practitioners. Later, Maya Thosani, MD, will dive into nonmelanoma skin cancers, offering a comprehensive look at current diagnostic and treatment approaches, while Mark Gimbel, MD, will discuss recent developments in melanoma genomics and molecular profiling.
Another anticipated session is an overview of artificial intelligence in dermatology presented by Eileen Cheever, PA-C, where she will address how artificial intelligence is transforming diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in the field. That evening, Jennifer Hsiao, MD, will highlight the latest treatment options for hidradenitis suppurativa, focusing on innovations in unroofing techniques.
The following day, Suneel Chilukuri, MD, will kick off with a discussion on essential cosmetic tools that dermatologists can integrate into their practice, followed by updates on hyperpigmentation treatments—a common patient concern. Douglas DiRuggiero, PA-C, will lead a deep dive into corticosteroid use, exploring both their benefits and risks, while James Song, MD, will present a session revisiting “old friends” in dermatologic therapy, including methotrexate and cyclosporin.
Saturday’s highlights include a presentation from Lisa Swanson, MD, on pediatric dermatology, where she will offer guidance for providers on managing conditions in young patients. In the afternoon, Ash Marghoob, MD, will present a comprehensive look at dermoscopy techniques for sensitive sites, covering the face, palms, soles, nails, and mucous membranes. The day wraps up with another of Swanson’s sessions focused on pediatric lumps and bumps, a practical guide to recognizing benign and concerning conditions in children.
On Sunday, the conference concludes with Jenny Murase, MD, and a 2-part series on skin care for new mothers and safe treatment practices during pregnancy, addressing specific skin challenges for this patient population.
Additionally, several satellite symposia led by industry partners will provide attendees with updates on topics like chronic spontaneous urticaria, advancements in psoriasis treatments, and other innovations in dermatology.
Throughout the many sessions, attendees will also have numerous opportunities to engage in networking and explore the exciting offerings of Scottsdale.
Dermatology Times will be covering the conference live in person, reporting on numerous engaging sessions, as well as conducting exclusive interviews with experts in the specialty.
