You should get to know local reporters and what they cover. Meet reporters' needs by answering their questions in a timely way, offering good information for their audience and being there when they need you (whether a story is positive, negative or neutral).

Reporters care about what their audiences care about. Regularly pitch human interest stories and piggyback on seasonal or sensational topics in the media.

Know your patients' professions, because some of the very people you treat may have ties to the media.
