SDPA President, Lauren Miller, MPAS, PA-C's Expectations for Fall Conference

As the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants Conference continues, its president discussed what she hopes attendees take away from the event.

The 2022 Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) Conference is underway in Miami, Florida. Lauren Miller, MPAS, PA-C, and President of the Board of Directors for SPDA, talked to Dermatology Times® about her hopes for those who traveled to Miami to attend the sessions.

The 20th annual SDPA Fall Conference began in Miami, Florida on Thursday, November 17th and continues through Sunday, November 20th.

Transcript:

My name is Lauren Miller, and I'm a dermatology PA, and I practice in Gadsden, Alabama. I am the current president of the SDPA and I've been in dermatology for about 14 years now. I would love to have attendees walk away, feeling that desire to get involved with leadership, whether it be with the SDPA or maybe their state organization. Hopefully, the leaders that are there; the committee chairs, the committee members, the board members, etc, are able to talk with the attendees while they are there. Hopefully they'll give them some ideas of what it's like to volunteer for the SDPA and what the benefits really are of volunteering. And when they leave, I hope that they'll reach back out and tell us that they're interested because that's something that we really want to do is develop our pipeline for leadership, and also hope that they obviously leave with some kind of pearls that they can take back to clinical practice and utilize to help their patients. I hope that they leave having met some new friends and colleagues that maybe they stay in touch with afterward. Maybe they become friends or maybe they can utilize them if they have any tough cases that they need to pick someone's brain for later on.
