Video transcript:
Hi, I'm Tina Alster. I'm a board-certified dermatologist and laser surgeon based in Washington DC. I've been director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery since 1990, which was the year I founded it. On Sunday, I'm so honored that I will be receiving the Vic Narurkar Lectureship in Aesthetic Innovations. I was so pleased because Dr. Narurkar was a close personal friend of mine. And to have his named lecture award really does mean a lot. I'll be focusing on some things that I know meant a lot to him; he always used the hashtag #NoPosers, to mean that we should be doing science-based medicine, and to not pose or over-embellish what you're able to do, so more humility is really the bottom line. And then I am also going to be using one of my favorite hashtags, which is #PayItForward. And with that, I mean to pay it forward to the next generation. I've been, for the last 30 years, mentoring hundreds of residents and others in various forms of their training. I'm pleased to see that many of them are leaders in the field today, so we are paying it forward. So, I've been trying to give people a path to innovation.
