A new smartphone application from the American Academy of Dermatology provides evidence-based clinical guidelines for treating patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
The app includes a clinical decision tree, a quick diagnosis reference guide, clinical recommendations for all available therapies, case studies, CPT codes and more, according to a news release.
A team of dermatologists specializing in psoriasis management created the guidelines, which were published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology from 2008 to 2011. The guidelines were the result of a thorough review of scientific literature, and include the predominant methods for psoriasis treatment: biologic therapy, topicals, systemic agents and phototherapy and photochemistry.
The app is free and can be downloaded at www.aad.org/psoriasisapp.
